My Journey to Mindfulness

Mindfulness

Automatic Pilot

in the early 1990s, I realized that I was driving my kids to their after school activities on automatic pilot. I was only aware of leaving the house, but not of the journey to the pool, gymnasium, and track and field. I got scared thinking about it. I was unintentionally putting my kids in danger. I decided to wake up.

My Journey to Wakefulness

The journey to wakefulness was difficult. It required a great deal of patience and creativity to focus on the present. I was determined to wake up and become aware of my surroundings at all times.

Living in the Present

I started reading about and took workshops on Reiki (level 3+), the Silva Method (advanced levels), the Alexander Technique, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Falun Dafa, Yoga, and Mindfulness

Passionate about Learning

The Internet satisfied my hunger for information. I combined textbook with online learning. I did a second masers and my first Ph.D online. The face-to-face library was replaced by the online library provided by the University of Phoenix (UOP). Luckily, as an alumni, I have free lifetime access to the UOP online library.

I began reading books to learn how to be present.
